About This Experience
Mad Hatter’s Afternoon Tea in Krakow is an Alice in Wonderland tea party for anyone who thinks a birthday, or an unbirthday, deserves more than coffee and cake. You’ll sit down at a table dressed like a scene from the story, at Scandale Royal overlooking Szczepanski Square, a few minutes from the Main Square. There’s Prosecco, a spread of sweet and savoury treats, a pile of hats and a couple of hours to enjoy it all at your own pace.
Afternoon Tea, but a Little Mad
We’ve taken the traditional afternoon tea and made it more playful, a little sillier and a lot more fun. “Eat Me” tags, playing cards, a ticking clock and bunny ears are scattered across the table, and the hats are there to be worn, not admired. The Mad Hatter has left a few questions for you to answer around the table, which tends to get even the quietest guest talking. And at some point, someone will be painting the roses red. It’s relaxed rather than staged, so join in as much or as little as you like.
A Wonderland Table, Ready When You Arrive
There’s no waiting for courses. When you sit down, the table is already set: cheeses and cold cuts to share, sweet and savoury bites, pastries, fresh fruit and Wonderland-inspired treats, with a little fortune cookie to start things off. You’ll have a glass of Prosecco, or a non-alcoholic alternative, and your choice of tea, coffee or a soft drink. Everything is laid out to be picked at slowly, and photographed first.
Scandale Royal, Szczepanski Square
The tea party is hosted at Scandale Royal Restaurant, Wine & Bar, which overlooks Szczepanski Square on the edge of the Old Town. It’s a few minutes’ walk from the Main Market Square, so it fits easily around a day of sightseeing, and the elegant setting makes a nice contrast with a very silly afternoon.
Who It’s Good For
Mother-and-daughter afternoons, friends catching up, couples, families with children, and anyone celebrating a birthday or an unbirthday. Planning a hen party? It’s a fun, stylish way to start the weekend and a nice change from a bar crawl. Groups of any size can book online, and private areas are available for larger celebrations. Just tell us about the occasion when you book.
